Lila Laraine Hunter

ADVANCE – Miss Lila Laraine Hunter, 21, of Baileys Chapel Road, died Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on November 3, 2003, in Forsyth County. Lila’s happiness and joy were truly contagious. Her radiant smile could light up any room and brighten the day of everyone she met. She had a special way of making the world feel lighter just by being in it. A true social butterfly, Lila never met a stranger. Her heart was open and giving, and her love extended deeply, especially to her many beloved fur babies. Lila absolutely loved leading the Challenger team on Monday nights. It brought her so much pride and joy to be part of something that lifted others up, and she shined as a leader; encouraging, passionate, and full of heart. She found joy in creativity, whether it was designing Minecraft skins, diving into Honkai Star Rail, or crafting beautiful things with her own hands. Baking with her Nan was one of her favorite pastimes, and every sweet treat came with a little piece of her heart. Lila was a proud selfie queen, full of confidence and sparkle. She loved all things Pokémon, adored Taylor Swift, and never passed up a chance to add another stuffed animal to her ever-growing collection. Fearless and full of life, Lila embraced every moment with boldness. Her wheelchair wasn’t a limit, it was a set of wings. She loved speed, freedom, and the feeling of flying. Lila was love, light, and laughter and she will be remembered forever for the joy, courage, and compassion she brought into the world. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Douglas and Deborah Jones; paternal great grandparents, Russell and Virginia Jones and Charles and Evelyn Hunter; maternal great grandmother, Pansy Jones; a cousin, Rusty Harpe; and Reba Mae and Harold Frank. Survivors include her parents, Rich Hunter and Cheryl Jones Roda; her brother, Nicholas Roda (Gabby Barringer) of Advance; paternal grandparents, Rick and Renee Hunter of Advance; aunt and uncle, Brittany Arroyo (Chris) of Statesville; maternal great grandfather, Bobby Jones of Mocksville; great aunts and uncles, Dana and Randy Foster and Chip and Lynne Harpe; cousins, Brianna and Chris Barrett, Matt and Lauren Foster, and Natalie Harpe; special friends, Sarah and Raven; all of her Davie Little League Challenger teammates; all her pet friends, Bella, Junebug, Miller, Sassy, Gabs, Barney, D.J., Gracie, Blackie, Star, and many more; and extended family, Pharris Frank, Little Pharris, and Sammy Frank. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Furches, Rev. Greg McEwen, and Mr. J.T. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow on the family property. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, at the funeral home.
