Michael Linn "Mike" Miller

MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Michael Linn "Mike" Miller, 76, of Country Lane, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at his home. He was born on August 20, 1949, in Rowan County, to the late Powell Elbert and Diona Hinshaw Miller. Mike was a faithful member of Dutchman Creek Baptist Church, where he had been a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir in times past. He was owner and operator of Miller Lumber Company before beginning his career at Reavis Ford-Mercury in Mocksville, where he served as Sales Manager and retired as General Manager. He then became an engine builder with Competition Karting Incorporated in Welcome, as long as his health permitted. Mike always loved racing and sponsored and helped pit crews for different teams before beginning to drive himself. He was the 1982 World Karting Association national champion and won the 1991 Sportsman championship at Bowman Gray Stadium. He then moved to the Modified division before retiring due to his health. His most memorable moment in racing was being a winner in the Coca-Cola 300 at North Wilkesboro Speedway. In his later years, he owned and maintained a go-cart driven by his grandson, Tanner. This definitely became his happiest and most enjoyable years of racing and he was all smiles each time Tanner would win. He also had been an accomplished horse trainer and always loved being at his son's Longhorn farm, checking on the cows. Although these moments were important to Mike, nothing became more important than his service to the Lord. He had a heart to witness for Christ and loved his church and his church family very much. If you ever worshipped with Mike, you knew that he loved testifying to the goodness and blessings of God. He was faithful to be found in his seat on the front row, shouting and praising the Lord. His desire was to be in God's house, even though his health hindered at times. He was a very loving husband, daddy, and papaw, and will be greatly missed by his family and church family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Pete Miller; and his father and mother-in-law, Rev. Thomas and Ruby Tuggle. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Dixie Gray Tuggle Miller; his three sons, Michael Miller (Julia) of Mocksville, Brad Miller of Clemmons, and Nicholas Miller (Kipperly) of Advance; his two granddaughters, Chasity Miller and Nicole Miller; his three grandsons, Tanner Miller, Trevor Miller, and Tucker Miller; his siblings; Billy Miller of East Bend, Luray Shoffner of Mocksville, and Randy Miller (Linda) of Mocksville; his brother-in-law, Rev. Ted Tuggle (Glenda) of Asheboro; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, September 19, at Dutchman Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Tuggle, Rev. Craig Seaford, Rev. Nolan Johnson, and Dr. Darrell Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
